Relationships. It it our mission to provide Relationship Education and
Intervention to all Couples. Our program provides the assistance of a
Family Life Educator and Coach that is equipped to address the
specialized needs of all relationships.
What is Normality?
The
only way to talk about "normal" behavior or "normal" activities, that
makes sense is to refer to Statistical Normality - What "most people" do,
what most think.
Of
course it is possible to think of morality as the guide to our behavior
and thinking; however, these are very private and very personal and do not
necessarily include anyone but ourselves.
In
the sense of statistics - most people - find themselves in a one-man,
one-woman relationship.
There
are those in our society who find Alternative Type Relationships more
appealing and expedient than the norm.
There
have always been those who choose to, or who are forced to, not legally
marry in the eyes of the state. They often think, act and live their lives
as though they were.
They
refer to themselves as married but have encounter legal obstacles that
hinder them from being licensed. For what ever their reason may be, it is
nonetheless their choice.
The
fact is that most Alternative Relationships have just as many and
sometimes more, problems and conflicts as those who are legally married.
Cohabitation
is by far the most popular alternate form. Singles who cohabit, or “live
together” make up this group. A simple definition may be “ Singles sharing
a bedroom with someone, who may or may not have children.
With
the staggering divorce rate and the length of time needed to complete the
process, some couples find themselves starting a new family before legally
ending the previous one.
Living together is a way of life that more and
more people are choosing, for many reasons. People from all social,
educational, and age groups have chosen this form.
Other alternative
relationships types can be:
Communal
Marriages and Civil Unions.
All couples and their families need
to be assured, that what ever their situation may be, they can find help
for their Relationship. A National Marriage Center Affiliate can provide
that assistance.
